Day 1 - Arriving at Akaroa

rain 5 °C

Arrived in Christchurch to rain and 5 degrees - brrrr. Collected our rental and headed straight for Akaroa. On the way it was snowing - pretty exciting for us Aucklanders - albeit only very lightly. Our accommodation - Akaroa Waterfront Motels - very comfortable and prime position next to the harbour. 2pm by the this time so went in search of food. Found The Trading Rooms and feasted upon Blue Cod Fish & Chips washed down by a bottle of French Chablis - ah yes, now we feel like we are on holiday. After lunch, the rain has cleared a bit so we went for a stroll around the town. What a beautiful place this is - snow on the hills above the harbour makes it as pretty as a picture. A bit of R&R back at our accomodation and we will head out for a meal soon to sample some more of the local fare.
